Toronto, Canada — March 7, 2026
The International Christian Voice successfully hosted the Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti Memorial Fundraiser and Book Launch 2026 at the Toronto Grand Convention Centre in Toronto.
The event brought together faith leaders, elected officials, human rights advocates, and members of the Christian community for an evening dedicated to defending religious freedom and supporting victims of persecution around the world.
Honoring the Legacy of Shahbaz Bhatti
The gathering paid tribute to the life and sacrifice of Shahbaz Bhatti, Pakistan’s former Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs.
Bhatti was assassinated in 2011 after bravely advocating for the rights of religious minorities and speaking against the misuse of blasphemy laws in Pakistan. Despite repeated threats to his life, he refused to leave his homeland and continued defending persecuted communities.
His courageous stand and ultimate sacrifice have made him a global symbol of faith, justice, and human dignity.
Keynote Address by Jason Kenney

Kenney shared personal reflections about his friendship with Shahbaz Bhatti and praised his courage, strong faith, and unwavering commitment to defending the oppressed.
He emphasized that Bhatti’s life remains a powerful reminder that standing for truth and justice often requires extraordinary courage.

Messages from Canadian Leaders
The event also included special messages from Canadian leaders including Mark Carney and Doug Ford, who recognized the importance of protecting religious freedom and supporting vulnerable communities.
Faith leaders and community organizations from across the Greater Toronto Area also participated in the event.
Supporting Persecuted Refugees
During the program, International Christian Voice highlighted its humanitarian work.
Since 2017, the organization has helped more than 250 persecuted refugees find safety and new opportunities in Canada.
This year’s fundraiser aims to raise $70,000 to sponsor two persecuted Pakistani Christians who spent several years in prison under blasphemy accusations.
Peter Bhatti’s Message
Peter Bhatti, representing International Christian Voice, stated that the event symbolizes both remembrance and action.
He thanked supporters, volunteers, and community leaders who continue to stand with victims of persecution and work toward a world where religious freedom is respected.
A Message of Faith and Hope
