GUJRANWALA – In a distressing incident reported from Lashkari Pura (Dogranwala village), two Christian teenagers were severely assaulted by local shopkeepers following a dispute over a grocery rate list. The Cantonment Police Station has formally registered an FIR and successfully arrested three individuals involved in the attack.

Escalation of Violence over Price Dispute

On January 30, 2026, Sahil (16) and Anmol (14), sons of Sajid Masih, visited a local grocery store. A simple disagreement regarding the price of items led the shopkeeper, Shahid, to call his accomplices. According to the victim's father, the group—including Ali Raza, Abu Bakar, Qaiser, and Rehan—attacked the boys with punches and kicks, causing visible trauma and injuries.

The FIR states that the attackers not only physically harmed the minors but also issued life-threatening warnings. The situation was contained only after local witnesses intervened to rescue the children from further harm.

Political Intervention and Legal Progress

After initial delays in police cooperation, community activist Aamir Ashraf escalated the matter to Punjab’s Minority Affairs Minister Ramesh Singh Arora and Madam Sonia Asher. Their immediate intervention prompted the Gujranwala Police to take decisive action. Raids were conducted, resulting in the arrest of three named suspects, while a manhunt is underway for the remaining two.

This incident has sparked concerns regarding the safety of minorities in rural areas. The Christian community has lauded the efforts of the minority representatives and called for a speedy trial to ensure justice for the young victims. We pray for the quick recovery of the injured children and for justice to prevail.
